LARGO - A Largo police officer was fired Monday, nearly three months after he was involved in a drunken-driving incident during which his truck struck two vehicles, authorities say.
On Aug. 20, Darren Cockeram was pulling a personal watercraft with his pickup truck when he rear-ended a Toyota on U.S. 19 at 78th Avenue North, Largo police said. He kept driving, turned around at some point, and then sideswiped a Nissan on U.S. 19 at 54th Avenue North, Largo police said.
There were no injuries.
In October, Cockeram pleaded no contest to a charge of driving under the influence and was sentenced to probation.
