A Riverview man was arrested over the weekend on counterfeiting charges.
David Walter Michel Jr., 23, of 11139 Hannaway Drive, Lot 3, was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of counterfeit bills and possession of an instrument for forging after Hillsborough County deputies found 29 counterfeit bills and a copier and paper used to make bogus money inside his Brandon motel room.
Michel also faces a methamphetamine possession charge and a charge of driving without a valid license. He was arrested along with Kelly Ann Kind, 33, of 11380-B Watson Road in Riverview, with whom he was sharing a room at the Days Inn motel on Adamo Drive.
Kind is accused of illegally using Social Security numbers and an assortment of drug counts.
Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies say they obtained permission to search the motel room after arresting Michel Saturday afternoon for driving with an invalid license. Inside, deputies found the counterfeit money, six different Social Security cards and a variety of drugs, including methamphetamine and oxycodone.
Kind had outstanding warrants for drug offenses. She is on probation on a 2011 charge of possession of counterfeit bills, according to jail records.
Both were still in jail Sunday.
